Fishpond

The fishpond started its life as a swimming pool and had not been used for several years when the heater packed up. Someone asked us to take on six goldfish, so we thought that this would be the right place for them. The pond is five feet deep, thirty feet long, by fifteen feet wide. Over the years, more fish have arrived, including some Koi, and what started with six small goldfish, who are now huge, has become a shoal with over forty fish.

Most of these residents have come from very small fish bowls or been won at fairs – something we are so very strongly against. The fishpond has also served as a training area for the ducklings over the years.
